Bettison principle of BBS Chartered Building Surveyors prides
himself in operating a multi-disciplinary Practice, from its
offices on Cambridge, London and Sheffield. Their principal
business revolves around the provision if traditional surveying
and design services, associated with residential, commercial
and industrial buildings. They have a particular
bias towards residential properties of a non-standard construction
and their architectural capabilities enable them to provide
assistance with works of renovation, extensions and conservation

Regulation approvals, together with Listed Building Consent
are often a necessary part of the building process and indeed
necessary as a prelude to many schemes. The client receives

as a Chartered Surveyor in 1972, after a varied career in,
mainly, Private Practice, but also at a Public Utility, and
in Commercial Management. After working in London, he started
up in Hungerford in 1982, undertaking structural surveys for
private clients and mortgage valuations for a few lenders. Most of his work has been in the residential
sector, and has included Building Surveys and RICS Home Buyers’
Surveys for intending buyers, Dampness Diagnosis, Boundary
Disputes, Assessments if Re-Building Costs for Insurance.
Over the years, more and more of his work has involved Period
Buildings of all sizes and types, including those with timber-framed
and / or cob (earth) walls. Thatched buildings are of particular
interest, and he has extensive knowledge of this specialist
